Arrow B on the Haute Seat

Arrow B on the Haute Seat

Arrow B’s Shane Martin and Ally Frueauf knocked out a fun design project, bringing home a bit of recognition for their recent work in the Rocky Mountain NEWH Haute Seat competition. The Network of Executive Women in Hospitality hosted a chair design competition that paired architects with design industry partners to transform an unfinished wooden Ikea chair into a usable work of art. Arrow B worked with Mohawk Flooring/Durkan, which provided the vinyl flooring (LVT) used in the execution.

The team tackled the “Nature Knocks” theme by putting a bird on their design, machined out of LVT (luxury vinyl tile). The woodpecker took shape thanks to detailed fabrication by MS Sign. Shane might have had a bit too much fun wielding the heat gun to form the tiles around the structure of the chair, using Mohawk’s Global Entry Antiek LVT in Cassolette and Nimbus for the background and Matuto LVT in Red Hot for the cut out of the downy woodpecker.

The finished chair was auctioned off to benefit education and scholarship efforts at a party hosted by the DalTile Showroom. Arrow B’s entry sold for $150 and brought home a second place trophy.
