What’s In A Name?
“Where does the Arrow B come from?” It’s a great question, and a great story.
Arrow B is a cattle brand registered with the state of Colorado. It’s a play on the name of Arobine Haldeman Cogswell – my daughter’s 3rd great grandmother and namesake. Arobine, (or Bina as she was called by family) was an early Colorado resident who had a large ranch outside Colorado Springs, the “Arobine Ranch.” A brand is a reputation, a surrogate handshake, a mark that symbolizes the hard work, experience and dedication that goes into a successful business. That business is now Arrow B Architecture.
When considering names for the firm it seemed a natural fit. As a family name, there is the added motivation to live up to it and honor its history. Metaphorically speaking, architecture is the result of hard work and stewardship. It takes many hands and builds on the experience of generations. The brand is the literal symbol of that work and the pride of ownership. (And truth be told, there’s some occasional pain and scarring that comes with it.) The Arrow B represents our approach to design, collaboration, and our respect for the process. It’s our brand, it’s our handshake, and our commitment to you.
